Bangalore is the capital city of the southern Indian state of Karnataka. Bangalore city is rightly called as the Garden City with a wide array of parks and gardens which are spread all over the city increasing the beauty of the city. Because of the high concentration of IT industry, it is also called the "Silicon Valley of India". Modern day Bangalore was begun in 1537 by a vassal of the Vijayanagara Empire, Kempe Gowda I, who aligned with the Vijayanagara empire and built a mud-brick fort. Bangalore gained prominence in the 18th century, when it became an important fort city, under Hyder Ali and Tipu Sultan of Mysore. Hyder and Tipu contributed towards the beautification of the city by building Lal Bagh Botanical Gardens in 1760. Under them, Bangalore developed into a commercial and military centre of strategic importance.
In 1831, the British made it the regional administrative city and established a big cantonment here. Bangalore city has a number of gardens and lakes, it also has some historical sites like Vidhan Soudha, Bangalore Palace, Government Museum and Tipu Sultan Fort etc. The most important place is nandi hills, on the top of the mountain Bull Temple is located, 16th century Dravidian style architecture. For all the visitors the nandi hills in Bangalore is not to be missed.
